Those who've known me a long time know that I am a shark conservationist.  For nearly 20 years I had an educational/conservation website about sharks called Shark Cove.  My favorite shark is the Graceful Catshark - (Proscyllium habereri) which became my online nickname.  My good friend Andrea introduced me to sharks for which I am grateful.  Her favorite is the Great White Shark (Carcharodon carcharias).  When I decided to give Clairefontaine Pastelmat a try with my pastels I couldn't think of anything better than an underwater theme with a Great White.  The original piece is a gift to my friend.

Interesting Facts:

Great White Sharks are on the vulnerable species list due to illegal practices of humans.

Great White Sharks give live birth and the babies are called pups.

Their main diet consists of pinnepeds, ( sea lions and seals).

Great White Sharks use a practice better known as “spy-hopping," peaking their heads out of the water in order to look for prey.
